Thank you for your interest in becoming an Academic Approach instructor. We appreciate the time you invest in applying with us. The application will take just a few minutes and will include questions regarding your background and availability. The end of the application will offer you the opportunity to add a resume or CV along with a cover letter for our review. The following will provide you with a brief description of our tutoring positions.
A tutoring company is only as successful as the tutors who represent it. Therefore we are seeking outstanding tutors and school program teachers to improve students’ SSAT, ISEE, SAT, SAT Subject Test, and ACT scores. At Academic Approach, we use state-of-the-art print and online curriculum to help students master the skills and strategies they require for success. Through highly personalized, in-home or in-office private tutoring sessions, we deliver one-on-one instruction that helps each student develop his or her very best, individualized approach to test taking. Our school programs serve diverse communities throughout New York, and, as a teacher, you have the opportunity to implement a world-class curriculum to improve college readiness and outcomes for students across the city. As a tutor you can positively impact the students you serve and be part of a team responsible for guiding each student toward greater academic success.
Work one-on-one with students to mentor and motivate them to their greatest test-taking success
Work in classrooms to engage, support, and instruct students to build college readiness skills
Use student and class-level data to make informed decisions about instruction
Communicate student-specific insight with parents regarding their children’s progress through frequent conversations, emails, and progress reports
Provide personalized instruction through customized learning plans and our proven print and online curriculum
Participate in and successfully complete tutor-training sessions to learn and master Academic Approach’s instructional methods
Respond to director’s student assignments promptly by calling and scheduling with parents and students
Perform administrative tasks relevant to the tracking of your students’ progress and hours
Terms of Employment
Academic Approach tutors are employees; taxes are withheld from pay. Tutors must be legally authorized to work in the US. Once invited to training, tutors are asked to complete paperwork including, but not limited to, a W-4, I-9, non-compete agreement, and tutoring code of conduct agreement. A background check is conducted on every tutor to ensure the safety of our students. Additionally, although we value a candidate’s experience with other tutoring organizations, we do not permit our tutors to work with another educational service while working with us.
